Sarah Geronimo endorses Manny Villar

Pop princess Sarah Geronimo is the newest addition to the roster of celebrities endorsing Nacionalista Party standard bearer Sen. Manny Villar.

Geronimo sang Villar’s latest political jingle titled “Naging Mahirap” during the launching of Katropa, a youth group organized by Villar's daughter, Camille. Geronimo has been named the campaign's ambassadress.

Villar's camp said it recognizes Geronimo's patience and hard work that resulted in her success.

The senator's camp, however, refused to confirm if Geronimo was paid P20 million in exchange for her endorsement.

Geronimo, on the other hand, said she believes television host-actress Kris Aquino will not take it against her once she learns that she is supporting Villar in the coming May elections. Kris’s brother, Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, is currently Villar’s biggest rival in the presidential race.

Aside from Geronimo, Villar had earlier gained endorsements from Comedy King Dolphy and popular noontime host Willie Revillame.

Villar, meantime, defended himself from critics who are hitting him for getting celebrity endorsers and spending huge amounts in his campaign. He pointed out that, unlike the LP standard bearer, he has no popular parents nor strong connections in show business.

Villar also denied claims that he is the real candidate of President Arroyo, and that they made a secret pact assuring President Arroyo's position in Congress.

He said: "Puro paninira. Tigilan na iyan. Matagal ko nang hindi nakakausap si Pangulong Gloria."

Minsan naiisip ko na sa sobrang gastos ng mga kandidato para manalo eh binabawi lang din nila ito kapag nakaupo na sila sa pwesto.

Hindi biro ang magtapon ng milyon milyon para sa mga ads kahit na sabihin natin na mayaman na ang isang kandidato.

before nyo patamaan yung mga nagproproduce ng milyon milyong pera sa campaign.. try nyo muna search kung gano talaga kalaki yung profit nila.. kung sabagay nagsimula yon sa wala.. nakurakot lang din dati at naipon. haha :)

isa lang masasabi ko sa gastos ni Villar. He is buying the position. Indirectly ganun ang ginagawa nya. He is too obsessed with winning the position that I can't help but think that he's going to use it for his own personal gain.

^he has the resources anyway, mina-maximize lang niya yung use ng kanyang campaign warchest and the bottomline is, wala siyang pagkaka-utangan ng loob dahil sarili niyang pera ginagamit niya.

Anyway, who else finds it that the "Hindi ako magnanakaw" ad by Noy is a bit condescending?
